Thank you to all members, family & friends who attended the club's Annual General Meeting and
Presentation Night. Our appreciation is extended to all club members who have accepted roles on
the club's committees for the 2010/2011year. Special thanks to outgoing committee members -
Gary Pearce (President), Daryl Jenkins (Treasurer), Allan Ryan (General Committee) and Kevin
Glassenbury (Junior Convenor). The committee and members of Strathmore Tennis Club would
like to acknowledge and express our appreciation for your efforts to ensure the smooth running of
the club. Your commitment and contribution to the club and your committee roles is very much
appreciated.
Membership Renewals:
If you have not already done so, please ensure that your annual membership is paid by the end of
August. Please note that any members who are unfinancial at this date will be unable to continue
using the club's facilities and play competition. If you have any queries, please contact Ian Parkes.
Thank you to all members who have returned their payments promptly.
Committee Vacancies:
There are a number of vacancies on club committees. If you would like the opportunity to fill one
(or more!!) of these positions, please speak to a current committee member. Vacancies are
available on the General Committee for one lady, Pennant Match Committee, Delegates and the
Social Committee. We would welcome your involvement.
Club Championships:
The club requires a new convenor of the Club Championships for 2011 and also members for the
organising committee. If you would like to be involved, please speak to a committee member.
Working Bee:
The committee is holding a working bee at the club on Sunday 29th August at 3.00pm. We would
appreciate a high number of members to come along to assist with gardening and maintenance
tasks. Please contact a committee member with any queries.
Social News:
Please watch the notice board for details of upcoming events. If there is any activity you would like
to see at the club, please speak to a member of the Social Committee.
New Members:
Welcome to new members - we hope you enjoy your tennis at Strathmore. Please feel free to
contact any of the committee members is you have any queries.
NSTA - Saturday Afternoons:
- All four teams are in the "four" of their grades at the moment and look headed for the finals,
with two of the four currently top of the ladder. Semi finals commence on Sat 21st August
and the Grand Final is on Sat 28th August.
- Applications for the Summer Season are now open and will close on 16th August. If you'd
like to play, please ensure you submit a form before this date. The season will commence
on Sat 2nd October - the format for the season will revert to 3 x 3 (mixed) & 4 players (men)

NSNTA - Night Tennis:
- The following teams have been entered in the Spring 2010 competition:
- Ladies - A Res 1, B Res 2, B Special 1, C grade 2, X grade 3, C Reserve 1 & D Special (2)
Season starts 10/08/10
- Mixed - A Reserve, B grade 2, B Reserve 1, C grade 3. Season starts 18/08/10
- Mens - A grade, B Special 2, B Special 4, B grade 2, B Reserve 3, B Reserve 4,
C Reserve 4 (2). Season starts 12/08/10
NSLTA - Thursday Ladies:
- Good luck to Section 9 - so far, they've had 2 wins and a washout.
- The ladies competition is looking for additional players. If you know anyone who would like
to play, please encourage them to contact the club.
NSJTA - Juniors:
- Welcome back to all juniors for Season 2 - 81 players form 11 teams, including one joint
team with Merlynston Tennis Club. Five teams play on Friday nights and six teams on
Saturday morning.
- The junior committee is currently organising a pie drive: pies will be available on 21st
August.
- A reminder to all teams to ensure that the clubhouse is left tidy at the end of play and that all
players ensure their team managers have their correct contact details.
- When submitting an application form to be placed in a team for the following season,
please ensure that you are available to play for the entire season. Commitment to the
team is expected.
- The next junior committee meeting is on Tues 7th September at 7.30pm
- Thanks to Raylene (canteen), team managers and all parents for your contribution to
ensure an enjoyable tennis environment.
BYO Licence:
Please note that the club has been granted a BYO Liqour Licence which stipulates details such as
when alcohol can be brought to the club and consumed by senior members and visitors. Please
ensure that you check all details so that requirements are not breached. The certificate containing
this information is located on the notice board.
Premiership Pennants:
The club seems to be missing a number of premiership pennants. Could all members please
check to see if these ma by hiding somewhere at home. If you do locate any, could you please
notify a member of the committee.
Club and Court Care:
Contact details for emergency court care have been placed on the notice board. If you are at the
club and notice that there is a problem with the courts or club house, (such as watering hoses not
working or en tou cas blown away), please ensure that you contact one of these people
immediately. It is imperative that these issues are attended to as soon as possible.
Australian Open Ticket Bookings:
Tennis Australia is offering registered members/players (including individual registration with
Tennis Victoria) the opportunity to pre-purchase Series Packages and Single Session tickets to the
Open prior to the general public sale. Further information is located on the club's notice board.
